Where are you from?
I am from Jakarta, Indonesia, but now residing in Toronto, Canada.
What inspired you to start making music?
My inspiration to start making music comes straight from my dad. He was a keyboardist in a local band back in Jakarta, and he started teaching me how to play the keys when I was 2 years old. But it wasn't just about learning the piano, he introduced me to a whole universe of music. He played me songs from RnB and Ballad legends like Boyz 2 Men, Mariah Carey, Chaka Khan, and David Foster.
David Foster's music, in particular, was a big part of my childhood. His compositions just stuck with me and a huge inspiration of my songs.
What is your music style?
My sound can be described as a unique blend of old ballad and modern R&B influences. I draw inspiration from the timeless ballad melodies that have resonated with audiences for decades, infusing them with contemporary R&B elements to create a distinct and fresh sonic experience.
Also, for my future projects, I am planning to combine Indonesian sound with a modern RnB/Pop tunes.
What’s one reason you love making music?
One of the main reasons I love making music is because it makes life so much more relatable. I get to tell stories, create fantasies, and sometimes even go a little crazy. I can make up completely nonsense things or experiment with different sounds and styles.
Music gives me a platform to express my wildest thoughts and emotions, and in turn, it allows listeners to connect with those emotions, too.
What does your brand stand for? What is the message in your music?
My brand is all about authenticity and empowerment. I aim to embody and represent the modern woman – bold, unapologetically herself, and unafraid to embrace her vulnerabilities. In a world where women are so often silenced or expected to conform to societal norms, I believe it's important to express oneself fully and honestly. This extends to all aspects of life, including our sexual experiences and desires.
I think it's vital for women to feel comfortable and confident in expressing what they want, not just in their day-to-day lives but also in their intimate relationships. 'Grind It', in particular, celebrates this aspect. It's about the thrill of attraction, the desire to connect on a deeper level, and the freedom to pursue those feelings without inhibition.
What do you hope you make people feel when they listen to your music?
My hope is that it resonates with them on a deep level. I want my music to serve as a vessel for relatability, where listeners can connect with the emotions embedded within the lyrics and melodies.
